About Me

Néstor Lara Jr. was born and raised in Los Angeles. He grew up in the heart of Echo Park with his mom and Lucky, his dearest golden retriever. Echo Park was once a sociable and multicultural neighborhood. Its rich streets were adorned with imaginative artwork. The graffiti art, expressive posters, and murals on the small business' walls fascinated his curiosity. It was a place in time that resonated with visual inspiration. Yet, the notable flair started at home. His father would sketch and color beloved cartoon characters on paper or on pieces of wood. This sparked Néstor's life long love for illustrations. In addition, a significant school field trip to the Warner Bros. Studio sealed the deal. Seeing a cartoonist sketch live was unforgettable and deeply influential. Néstor's creative journey has since evolved into a bold and personal exploration of styles. He was selected to complete a school mural at a private school. He designed the school walls with a whimsical forest with charming forest animals. He designs shirts, stickers, storytelling art prints, pins, and posters. His work reflects a love for pop culture, anime, music, global cultures, folk tales, films, books, and Benito (his beloved pug). He's had the opportunity to participate in large events like LA Comic Con, Creep Con, and Pasadena Comic Con. Yet, he still appreciates participating at small community pop-ups.
